Another bonus of the HD 25 headphones is how easy they are to use. As with most headphones in the modern market, the better your audio source, the better your headphones are going to sound. When Rosmadi @Sennheiser handed over the HD 25 ALUMINIUM to me, he specifically mentioned that this is just a minor update Anniversary Edition, and that though there is an improvement gained from applying the Aluminum housing, the difference is marginal. Well that was to be expected, given the fact that everything else is the same except for the application of Aluminium for the housing material — following the footsteps of the Amperior. Based on his comment, I told him right there that I probably can’t write much about the headphone as I don’t think that there is much to be talked about and he understood and gave me the nod. With a low weight and a one-ear listening option, the HD25 headphones from Sennheiser are a must-have for most DJs and studio owners. Though the HD25 headphones are lightweight, they’re surprisingly capable of holding up to all kinds of situations. Today, there are currently 3 versions of the HD 25 headsets on the market, including: The styling of the headphones is very understated in the modern age. It’s a good-looking headphone but is certainly not a designer headphone. It follows an ethos of form over function and to many this may seem a little boring.

These are headphones you can invest in and enjoy for years, despite the tough settings that DJ equipment often must endure. Notable design decisions include the return of the sturdy steel cable which far beats the flimsy cables of the Amperior. The pads are also very much improved. Rather than the soft but brittle alcantara soft leather, Sennheiser now uses a much better quality, softer faux leather than the one found in the standard HD25-1. Likewise the headband pads also use the same leather.

Customer reviews

The HD 25 Light headphones are missing the rotatable ear cup and split headband with the single-side cable design of the standard HD 25 headset. The HD 25 headset is understated in its style. Though these headphones have been around for decades, they remain timelessly modern and simple, with a clear-cut finish. If you have a significant problem with the comfort of these headphones, you can sometimes find custom ear pads elsewhere.

The sound quality and durability of these headphones outweigh any other negatives you can think of. There aren't many included accessories to talk about—the detachable cable is the only one the headphones ship with. It terminates in 3.5mm, so there is a ¼-inch adapter for pro-gear and stereo receivers. Aside from that, there's a soft, zip-up carrying case, and that's it. For the price, the HD 25 Aluminum seems a tad light on the accessories—an extra cable, perhaps one with phone controls so that this pair can be used easily with mobile devices and not just professional settings—would've been a nice touch. The earpads are removable and replaceable, but no extras ship with the headphones. Although they’re not intended for casual listening, you can still get a great experience from these headphones however you choose to use them. Sennheiser has a fantastic reputation for manufacturing headphones that suit a range of professional applications.Despite being extremely affordable, HD 25 headsets offer an insanely accurate and detailed sound with a balanced response. The HD-25 headphones have never been considered comfortable headphones for extended listening sessions. They are fine up to the 3-4 hour mark but you would want to take a break for 15 minutes or so before continuing. The main reason for this is also what makes them so good at isolating you from your external environment. That is the clamping force. The Sennheiser has a very strong clamping force that binds them tightly to your head and that combined with the on-ear earpads can cause pressure build-up. This saying is not technically exactly correct but for every day use use of dynamic microphones you will not find gain limitations. At SPL levels above 160 dB some mechanical problems might occur (for example the voice coil might crash onto the magnet) but these SPL levels are very hard to find in real world.

They are balanced and flat in response meaning that they do not add any artificial flavor to your sound it is accurate and pure. If you are used to consumer headphones with enhanced bass response and warmth across the midrange then these will be quite jarring and almost lifeless sounding to you at first but it gives a far more accurate reproduction of the sound than many of the headphones you are currently able to buy. The sound quality of the Sennheiser HD25 headphones is one of the better-known features among professionals. Widely regarded to be the top choice for DJs, the HD25’s headphones are the benchmark to beat in the audio world.

Ask most DJs and audio professionals and they’ll tell you that any true expert will have a set of HD 25s in their tool kit. These were my first DJ headphones. They are virtually weightless and extremely flexible. I could wear them a couple of hours at a time and not be in agony. Even, clear sound - not the bassiest choice you can make for sound though. The sound is clear, loud, and reliable, so you know exactly what you’re producing at any given moment. Additionally, while the padding and comfort aren’t great, you do get a lightweight and durable design that’s difficult to beat. While they look fine, and they’ve got the added bonus of the Sennheiser brand, they don’t look like much. The next variant is the Standard HD 25. This version has a swiveling ear cup, single-sided cable plus split headband. This version is the perfect balance between the cheap Light model and the more expensive top-of-the-line HD 25 Plus. This deluxe version is identical to the middle model but comes with an extra cable, spare earpads and a pouch to store the headphones in. For most people, the middle variant probably offers the best value for money.

This is part of what makes the Sennheiser HD25 such an iconic headset for DJs, even if it’s less popular and well-known in the standard audio world. Accessories If like most pros, you fall in love with the technology after you’ve tried it, then you could always look into buying some accessories too. Your headphone ear pads will bind themselves against your head as tightly as possible to prevent access to external disturbances. Despite their age, these are headphones that have easily endured the test of time, with excellent longevity, unforgettable build quality, and amazing music reproduction. If the headphones have sound in only one ear or differing sound levels in each ear or the sound in general is not what you expected then it needs to be determined where the issue lies - with the headphones or with the audio source. Balanced and reliable, the Sennheiser HD25 doesn’t add any extra spice to your sound. This is perfect if you’re looking for something that’s pure, accurate, and reliable. Created with a focus on exceptional performance, the HD25 headphones are unlike anything else on the market.
