Description

Batman: Year One is an American comic book story arc written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli. It shows Batman learning to be Batman, taking down street-level thugs and crime bosses, fighting the corruption in the GCPD. In an essential story from the Dark Knight's early days, Batman struggles to instill fear in Gotham City's criminals, while expatriate Chicago cop James Gordon discovers that he may be the only honest cop in town.

Wolfman's plans for the DC Universe after Crisis on Infinite Earths included relaunching every DC comic with a new first issue. From what I had read this was a good place to start for someone just getting into comics/graphic novels. Flass supplies Assistant District Attorney Harvey Dent with the evidence and testimony needed to implicate Loeb, who resigns in disgrace. In 1988, DC finally gave the approval to publish Year One as a graphic novel in trade paperback ( ISBN 0930289331) and hardcover ( ISBN 0930289323), containing 96 pages.

His multi-award-winning graphic novel 300 was brought to full-blooded life in the 2007 motion picture of the same name, and in 2008 he directed the feature film Will Eisner's The Spirit. It was shelved by the studio in 2001, [24] after an individual who claimed to have read Miller's script published a negative review on Ain't It Cool News. Major characters like Commissioner Loeb, Detective Flass and Carmine 'The Roman' Falcone are featured prominently in Batman Begins. The team also consisted of Mazzucchelli's wife Richmond Lewis who was in charge of coloring, Todd Klein as the story's letterer, and O'Neil editing the overall story.

This all-new, deluxe edition features new introductions by Miller and Mazzuchelli, pencils, promotional and unseen art, script pages and much more! Dust Jackets are not guaranteed and when still present, they will have various degrees of tear and damage. The artwork by Mazzucchelli--from the Milton Caniff school by way of Alex Toth (Zorro) and Doug Wildey (Jonny Quest)--may be the best Batman has ever had.He goes in disguise on a surveillance mission in Gotham's red-light district, but is reluctantly drawn into a brawl with several prostitutes, Holly Robinson and Selina Kyle.

In 2015, DC released a hardcover of Year One ( ISBN 1401260047) which included its 2011 animated film adaptation on both DVD and Blu-ray. Near fine/very good condition, slight over all wear to book and dustjacket, small scratches to front of dustjacket, top edge of dustjacket spine faded. Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli produced this groundbreaking reinterpretation of the origin of Batman who he is and how he came to be.but i also feel that it is not crucial to the quality of the graphic novel as a whole, because it allows you to concentrate on the storyline; sometimes, beautifully drawn graphic novels lack the story behind them, and i would prefer weaker artwork and a stronger story. The Batman storyline is quite hectic, and full of adrenaline as he learns his trade - the police trapping him in a building is a really good example of this.
