About this deal

I created the roamers special powers by considering their natural abilities and personalities and then imagined how that might look if they were taken to the extreme. I’m naturally empathetic and also really curious. I’m not sure how those qualities might develop… perhaps the empathy would lead to mind-reading? Or shape-shifting? As for a weapon of choice… I was always quite fond of Wonder Woman’s lasso, so maybe something like that? The romance - from the get-go, I didn't feel the chemistry between Gemma and Kas. After I finished the first book, I'd hoped it would change as the series went on, but I'm still not feeling it. I just don't feel this invisible pull between them that they seem to hang on and sacrifice everything for. This is honestly the main reason I don't like this series as much as other series by the author. It's like she tried telling us and describing us that invisible rope between the two characters more than showing it to us. I liked the way it was realistic, and at no point did I feel this world was fictional. If someone told me these places existed I would believe them, and I think that is excellent world building on the author's part. Bad: I didn’t feel like the story moved forward. Same basic plot as last book. Gemma wanted to leave, Kassen didn’t want her to. It was mostly a battle of wills between these two. I mean, how many times did she need to be choked?? The cairn is a pivotal object in Fablehouse, what was your process in setting out the world the children were in? Did you already see the house, surrounding land and magical world before drafting or did that come as your draft progressed?

As usual I’m at loss for words when it comes to Ms Winters’s tales, she spins a story so touching and raw, she creates characters so complicated and complex that will ultimately break you. He was unstable, violent, and had an abusive history—all perfect ingredients in creating a mass murderer with mental issues." What a unique retelling of the Arthurian legend!! It is also a perfect account of how social morals have changed since the 1950’s. This wonderful story tells of both Heather’s journey, who is trying her hardest not to trust Fablehouse and its unusual head teacher, Miss Isolde. But when children start acting strangely, Heather discovers a plot from a fae realm who have begun to infiltrate and overthrow the humans. I’d like to talk about the heroine at first: I loved Fable! She is favorite kind of heroine: tough, resilient, warrior, loyal, easy to care and resonate! For the first time, Fable found herself truly alone, with nobody to care for her. She had recently lost her Mother, as well, during a terrible storm. Much more travel around Europe, perhaps with the possibility of living in a European city at some point? (Unlikely with Brexit, I know). I’d like to take the kids to the USA, I’d love to see the Grand Canyon.

This is all wrapped up in an epic fantasy tale, of fae, changelings, knights and magic. I loved the nod to Arthurian legend as anything with mentions of Merlin, knights and the lady of the lake instantly adds an extra awesome layer of interest and intrigue. A brilliant story of what friendship and loyalty means, Fablehouse is a children’s care home where magic and intrigue are around every corner. From your experience in care, can you tell us about your ideas for Fablehouse and the underlying story arcs of the characters within? West is the character who is supposed to be the 'love interest'. The only trait I spotted in him was the constant 'clenching of his jaw/fist/teeth'. He gets angry a lot of times, and I guess he is smart but that's all there is to West. I loved the world that Adrienne created - so wonderfully fleshed out and perfectly visualized. I loved the little bits of imagery she wove in and out along with the sprinkling of magic.

This book focuses more on the internal battles of Kas and Gemma and how they navigate each other’s personalities. Kas is unstable, he has a lot of issues and Gemma witnessed all of it. At some point I wanted Gemma to just run be logical but then I also want her to help Kas. I was mad at Kas but then as the pieces of his shattered past came bit by bit, I can’t help but agree with the logic of Gemma to help and be there for him. To unravel the mystery behind the broken man. Gemma finally has the one thing she has ever wanted. Freedom. But it came at the expense of the man she had grown to love. And now nothing would ever be the same. would the beast return and destroy her again? Or will she finally be able to escape, and continue living her hollow existence? Fable by Adrienne Young, is a Young Adult novel with a unique setting. Unlike most YA books that I've read before, which are set in a Palace or a war zone, this one is set on a ship. Unfortunately, that's where my praise ends, because besides the different setting, there was nothing else about it that I liked. Love kept us trapped. Love kept us suffering. Love was the most agonizing thing I’ve ever endured," Gemma is torn between leaving and staying to take care of Kas, while he's not even sure what's real and what's in his head.

Not knowing my dad and that whole thing of the white women, the American GI’s and all of these brown babies, there were thousands of them shipped across different orphanages.I found it really moving. Thank you to Bloomsbury Children’s Books & Beatrice Cross for an early read of this fascinating book! Because you see, they live the life of the sea, and there are only two things strictly forbidden and deemed deadly on a ship: love and drunkenness. And when your ship is your life and your life is that of a pirate with enemies watching you for any weakness to exploit, you don’t have the luxury of love. To love is to jump off a cliff and hope you hit water rather than land, knowing even the water will likely drown you. And the characters’ understanding and fear of this is what makes their love all the more decadent.

BUT - I'm excited for book 3 - can't wait to see how this all ends. And after that, I'm excited to read the next book! We have so many Fable kids to find a HEA for! But when the table gets turn and the victim again turns into the monster...who is to blame for the choice? A beautiful story of found and chosen family that follows a group of children as they try to save their home, a residential care home, when its residents stumble into the clutches of the sinister Fae. The author says while the tumultuous nature of her upbringing forms a big part of the underpinning narrative that runs through Fablehouse, it’s not the only reason she was inspired to put pen to paper.

Fablehouse by Emma Norry is the most wonderful combination of folklore, faeries, tales of King Arthur and longing to find a place where you truly belong. Magically charged, with an air of mystery and hope, this story lives and breathes. Readers find themselves on a heart-stopping adventure with Heather and her friends as they strive for acceptance and love. So when she came to me about this project she knew that I’d grown up in the care system because that’s what she’d read before in a book I’d been trying t get published for ages about being in the care system. Ond wrth i’r plant grwydro’r coetiroedd hynafol ger Fablehouse, maen nhw’n cyfarfod â Palamedes, Marchog Du o amser maith yn ôl: llys y Brenin Arthur. I’d crossed the Narrows for a man who’d probably never even loved me. For a dream that would never come true."The Father-Daughter Bond: One might say there is no such bond here, and their dynamic is one of complex push and pull, denying and hiding their love for their fear and not knowing how to show it even if they wanted to, only causing each other pain from a distance. And while I wouldn’t wholly disagree, I’d say that beneath the hurt, beneath the struggle, he is still the dad who believes in her and does everything he does bc he thinks it’ll protect her, and she is still the daughter who proudly follows in his steps and just wants to be by his side. They might keep each other away and feel as if they’ve lost and have to guard against one another, but they still both evidently care and hate that they do. I loved learning more about his time spent with the only family he connected with, the family he saved, the family he loved unconditionally even if it had mean't putting himself in harm's way broke my heart imagining everything he'd endured alone.
