About this deal

The MultiFlap is a one-way non-return valve that fits easily to the exit pipe from your house to the street sewer. This means waste still goes out from your house, but immediately after the waste water has gone, the flap closes to prevent anything nasty coming up the wrong way. The prevention method and the ease with which the MultiFlap can be installed makes these products truly unique. Rodents often gnaw into wall materials at corners or where joints in construction materials provide an edge. Poor construction techniques may allow rodents to gain access through materials that are otherwise considered rodent-proof. Since the 1950’s drainage systems have been much less isolated from the main street sewer and this has allowed rats more access into peoples drainage systems. Damaged or unmaintained storm drains and sewer pipes easily allow vermin access into the main drainage systems. From here they can enter your home by travelling through sewers, up pipes and exiting from the foul air outlet at roof level or swimming through the water contained in your toilet system. The MultiFlap ensures you’re protected by keeping them in the sewers where the authorities can deal with them. Audit Compliance– proofing expansion joint gaps supports your audit compliance by proactively minimising the risks associated with internal mouse and rat activity. This in turn reduces the need to use rodenticide within your facility to control infestationsas you arerestricting rodent access.

Store food products in rodent-proof enclosures or on shelving at least 18 inches (46 cm), but preferably 30 inches (76 cm) or more, above the floor. Tubular supports (legs) for shelving should be a minimum of 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter to prevent rats from shinnying up from the floor. Flexi Armour Ground Mesh - is a highly corrosion resistant, flexible and sturdy ground covering mesh that discreetly prevents burrowing pests like rats from creating underground dens and safe harbourages close to your facilities, by proofing the ground around the property to prevent tunnel excavation and damage. Rentokil’s Flexi Armour range provides sustainable rodent proofing solutions to help protect buildings internally and externally. By utilising hard wearing, flexible Kevlar and knitted steel mesh, Flexi Armour provides impenetrable barriers that prevent rats and mice entering your premises. An integral part of the Flexi Armour Range is the rodent door proofing solutions we offer for both pedestrian doors and commercial roller shutter doors. These door proofing options offer a sustainable approach to Integrated Pest Management by restricting rodent intrusions into your business.Below, we have outlined the properties of some commonly employed meshes. These include mesh to prevent the passage of rodents (both rats and mice), insects (including specifically midges) and for use in beekeeping applications. Of note, much of the information below has been advised to us by the British Pest Control Association (BPCA). Rodent Mesh (rats and mice) Rats typically burrow and nest under feed bunks that are placed directly on the ground or near ground level. Properly designed concrete bunks that sit tightly on a concrete base eliminate rodent habitat. Though cattle traffic may discourage burrowing under the concrete slab, a foundation may be needed to prevent burrowing around the sides of the slab that do not receive heavy cattle use. Concrete slabs on which feed bins are placed should have foundations extending 36 inches (91 cm) into the soil at the outer edge to prevent rats from burrowing under the slab. Installing heavy gravel and maintaining a clean, weed-free zone around the perimeter of the slab will also discourage rat burrowing and permit easier detection of rat activity. Figure 15. Left: A curtain wall made of concrete will prevent rats from burrowing under foundations to gain entry to buildings. Curtain walls can be installed on existing buildings. A horizontal footing extension often deflects burrowing rodents away from structures. Right: Feed sheds, corn cribs, and other existing wooden structures can be rodent-proofed by installing hardware cloth topped by a band of sheet metal. The hardware cloth can also serve as a curtain wall to prevent rodent burrowing.

Mice can fit through surprisingly small spaces. As such, we recommend mesh that has a hole size no greater than 6 mm x 6 mm. As a general rule of thumb, if you can get a biro through a hole a mouse can fit through too. If you’re not looking to stop rats and mice are the only concern then our galvanised mouse mesh will likely do the job. This can be bought in our online shop here. Mouse mesh should always have a maximum hole size of 6 mm x 6mm.All equipment such as large refrigerators, freezers, counters, dishwashers, and sanitizers should be raised and easily movable, enabling cleaning underneath and behind them. Insulated walls and closed areas should be tightly closed off to avoid use as harborage. Openings are commonly seen in new stainless-steel work counters in supports under the work surface, or in areas provided for drains. Drains should be easy to clean but should have rodent-proof covers. Targeted Rodent Proofing– by preventing rodent ingress in these vulnerable areas and removing opportunities for them to nest and find refuge, you minimise the risk of pest activity and limit the potential spread of infestations inside your premises.

Properly applied flashing extends to within 1/8 inch (0.3 cm) of the edge of the door at the sides and bottom. Close the gap at the top or sides of roll-up doors with conveyor belt material shaped to fit into the side channel frames and mounted on the top door jamb. Bent bottom rails on doors should be straightened. Concrete dam-age due to inadequate reinforcement or poor placement practices should be repaired or the concrete replaced. A metal or pipe threshold is sometimes preferable or required.Flexi ArmourBuilding Seal Mesh - is a highly corrosive resistant, flexible, galvanised stainless steel knitted mesh which can be swiftly installed around the perimeter of cladded buildings as an impenetrable barrier to rodents. The Rat Barrier was initially developed to help combat flooding problems in the UK but is now being used to prevent rodent ingress into buildings, both commercial and domestic. The valve is now used to prevent the following: Standard insect mesh (aka fly mesh or flymesh) has a hole size of 1.36 mm x 1.36 mm. This is small enough to stop the vast majority of unwanted insects, including flies, mosquitoes, wasps and bees. Insect mesh is available to buy in our online shop insect mesh category.
